One way to stop yourself from doing more research while you’re writing is to leave holes for things you need to look up later. For example, if you want to mention a year in which something happened, but you don’t know which year, do not go look it up. Instead, leave a blank where you can insert the detail later: “In the year 19__, the Soviets...”

This way you can continue writing at high speed without breaking your flow to go dig up a relatively insignificant detail.

And if you struggle with editing while you write, then you may want to try reducing the size of the window you’re writing in. Set it so you can only read the last few sentences of what you’ve written. If your writing is hidden from view, you will not feel as compelled to edit what you just wrote. It will be easier to just keep writing and save the editing for later.
